Back to the classroom at the Angels booth

It was a pleasure to welcome so many current and future members of the Angels community to our booth at ESOC, which this year featured a FAST Heroes classroom, an introduction to the Angels Academy, and a Community Wall with success stories from across Europe.

In the FAST Heroes classroom, visitors could revisit their school years with daily “lessons” about this unique school-based stroke awareness project programme whose achievements to date include a Guinness World Record!

Elsewhere visitors could explore the elearnings offered in the Angels Academy and tools to support their work in stroke care and read about breakthroughs at hospitals in their own and other countries on our Community Wall. This year’s award-winners’ photo wall featured an unprecedented number of hospitals that had earned ESO Angels Awards, and a photo opportunity for proud winners.

ESO Angels Diamond Awards

During the Presidential session, over 100 ESO Angels Diamond Award Winners were welcomed on stage for an unforgettable parade of excellence in stroke care. The rousing applause that greeted the winners from Ukraine produced one of the most moving moments of the conference.

Spirit of Excellence Awards

The Spirit of Excellence Awards honour members of the Angels community whose commitment to stroke care improvement takes them beyond their own hospitals to raising standards in their regions and countries. This year’s winners were announced at a gala dinner at the Wappenhalle München where we welcomed a very special guest who was up past her bedtime – Ninka Ivančíková, whose story about saving her grandmother demonstrated FAST Heroes in action and earned her a standing ovation.
